The capital and largest city in the southern Indian state of Karnataka is Bangalore, also known as Bengaluru. Kempegowda International Airport, which is situated in Devanahalli and roughly 40 kilometers from the city center, serves Bangalore. The airport, formerly known as Bangalore International Airport, opened for business on May 24, 2008, and is privately run by a group headed by the GVK Group. The HAL Airport, located in the eastern residential neighborhood of Vimanapura, previously provided service to the city. When it comes to both passenger and aircraft traffic, the airport is the third busiest in India, behind Delhi and Mumbai. The city and the airport are connected by BMTC’s air-conditioned Volvo buses and taxis.
